What Is 3boxing in Warzone? (2026)
3boxing means searching with two extra accounts in your party, both with a very low K/D. You play your own account as usual, and the two extra accounts join your party before you search. Because matchmaking reads the whole party, two of them pull the search further toward easier lobbies than one would.
It’s the bigger sibling of 2boxing, which uses one extra account. The idea is the same; the difference is how much of your party the low-K/D accounts make up, and how much room is left for your friends.
Here’s what 3boxing is, who it suits, and what it takes to run it yourself compared with letting it run automatically.
What 3boxing means
The name comes from consoles. 3boxing first meant three of them running side by side: one for you and two signed into low-K/D accounts, all queueing as one party. Nobody needs the hardware to use the word now; a 3box setup simply means you plus two low-K/D accounts.
Our regions follow the same naming. In a 3box region, two of our accounts join your party. All of our Multiplayer regions are 3box.
Why two accounts pull harder than one
Matchmaking builds a lobby for the party, not just for its best player. Activision’s published matchmaking research, written about core Multiplayer, describes a party being matched as one unit around the middle of its members’ skill.
With one low-K/D account beside you, that middle moves down a little. With two, they make up most of a party of three and half of a party of four, so the middle sits much closer to their level than to yours. That’s the whole case for 3boxing over 2boxing.
How much weight each player carries in Warzone specifically isn’t public, so treat any exact number you see online as a guess. Call of Duty has confirmed that party composition is one of the inputs, alongside location, time of day, playlist, platform, crossplay and population. Who 3boxing suits
Two of the party slots go to the low-K/D accounts, so 3boxing fits smaller groups:
- Solo players: in Quads it’s you plus our two accounts, with one slot free. In Trios the party is exactly you and the two accounts.
- Pairs: you and one friend fill a Quads party with our two accounts.
- Trios of friends: there isn’t room for two extra accounts, so 2boxing is the better fit. The same goes for Duos, which only has room for one.
Running 3boxing yourself
Doing it on your own means two extra setups: two more consoles or PCs, two more copies of the game for Multiplayer, and two accounts whose K/D you have to keep low by playing them badly on purpose.
Every match then needs both accounts invited, the search started, and both backed out before the match begins. It’s twice the upkeep of 2boxing, which is why most people who 3box hand the job to a service.
Be careful with services that ask for your game login so someone else can play your account. Activision’s enforcement policy holds the account holder responsible for anything done on the account, whoever was playing.
How Zerobox runs 3boxing
Pick a 3box region near you and join its queue, from our Discord or the dashboard. When it’s your turn, friend the bot once (it accepts automatically), join its party, pick a mode and start the search. Both of our accounts search with you and back out before the match starts, and you play the match as normal.
Our accounts are played by hand to keep their K/D extremely low. There’s nothing to install, no extra console, and your login never leaves your hands. The Max plan adds MW4 Multiplayer 3boxing from its launch day, October 23, 2026; what each plan includes is in our pricing section.
Common questions
Is 3boxing better than 2boxing?
It pulls harder, because two low-K/D accounts make up a bigger share of your party. The trade is room: 3boxing leaves space in Quads for you and one friend, while 2boxing leaves space for you and up to two.
Can I 3box in Duos?
No. A Duos party only has room for you and one extra account, so 2boxing is the only option there.
Is 3boxing bannable?
No. Matchmaking sees a party of four players with different K/D ratios, the same as any squad of friends. With Zerobox nothing is installed and no game login is shared. More detail is in our guide to whether 2boxing is bannable, which applies to 3boxing too.
Does 3boxing work in Multiplayer?
Yes. All of our Multiplayer regions are 3box, and the Max plan adds MW4 Multiplayer 3boxing from its launch day. Like 2boxing, it does nothing in Ranked.
